My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

A song thought for you

Here are two versions of the same song. I got so many comments on my post about wrinkles that I wanted to share this with you. This song does a good job of explaining my approach to aging......no matter what age you or I might be.

Just Older

By Bon Jovi

Hey, man, it's been a while
Do you remember me?
When I hit the streets I was 17
A little wild, a little green
I've been up and down and in between
Through all these years AND MILES AND MEMORIES
I'm still chasing dreams
But I ain't looking over my shoulder

Chorus:
I like the bed I'm sleeping in
It's just like me, it's broken in
It's not old -- just older
Like a favorite pair of torn blue jeans
This skin I'm in it's alright with me
It's not old -- just older

It's good to see your face
You ain't no worse for wear
Breathing that California air
When we took on the world
When we were young and brave
We got secrets that we'll take to the grave
And we're standing here shoulder to shoulder

Chorus:
I like the bed I'm sleeping in
It's just like me, it's broken in
It's not old -- just older
Like a favorite pair of torn blue jeans
This skin I'm in it's alright with me
It's not old -- just older

I'm not old enough to sing the blues
But I wore the holes in the soles of these shoes
You can roll the dice 'til they call your bluff
But you can't win until you're not afraid to lose

Solo

Well, I look in the mirror
I don't hate what I see
There's a few more lines staring back at me
Now the nights have grown a little bit colder
Hey man, I gotta run
you take care
If you see coach T. Tell him (I've) cut my hair
(I've) kept my faith, i still believe i'm (just)!!... (HA!!!)

Chorus:
I like the bed I'm sleeping in
It's just like me, it's broken in
It's not old -- just older
Like a favorite pair of torn blue jeans
This skin I'm in it's alright with me
It' s not old -- just older

I think we should wear our age proudly.

Even the Bible says: "Gray hair is a mark of distinction, the award of a God-loyal life." Proverbs 16:31 The Message Bible

Funny how Bon Jovi can inspire so many of us. I remember having the lyrics "I just want to live while I'm alive" going through my head so much when my marriage was ending. I felt so dead in that marriage and when it ended it was like a weight had lifted from my shoulders. I always say that I applied the Bon Jovi philosophy to my life at that point.

As for the wrinkles - they aren't wrinkles, they are badges of honor!

i don't mind getting older. in fact, i'm enjoying it - EXCEPT for the wrinkles, gray hair, and looking old. it's not that i'm vain and i don't want to look like some young thing. i just don't want to look like an old lady. i don't feel like an old lady =)

I love it! And it's so true. It's all in the attitude. I am SO looking forward to being wrinkled enough to be retired and traveling around the world.
