My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

Happy Dance!!

PEOPLE!!!

There are some things in motion that are just too super cool to keep to myself!

my boss of my part time job (the work from home job) called me before work last night.....after a few months, (like end of summer) she's willing to do some things on my behalf (such as contract for a guaranteed minimum pay per paycheck) that might enable me to turn my part time job into my full time job and turn the hosp into a PRN job!!!

the very idea of this blows my brains to spaghetti-o's.

So, you're invited to dance and pray with me! :-)

Thank You

I have had many moments of "excitement" taking my children to church.

Some of them I blogged,
some hurt to much to share.

There was the one day about a year ago that I took all 3 kids to a daily Mass by myself. As we left 4 ladies, completely independent of each other came up to me and encouraged me to keep bringing the kids! One went so far as to say, "Don't ever let anyone stop you from bringing them! You're doing the right thing!!" Honestly it was hard to take all that support, because it just emphasizes how disruptive we really were.

But it was nice to hear too.

I'm just now catching up on blog reading from Mother's Day till now. And I came across this blog post from Mother's Day that touched my heart.

Thank you Dadwithnoisykids.

And I will continue to take my kids to Mass. Because you're absolutely right. They need it, I need it, the Priest needs it, and so do the other people there too.

My night as recorded on facebook:

about 9:30pm
Tornados coming!! At church with 14 ladies and 2 newborns in bathroom. Hubby at home with my 3 kids. Please pray, My town has no sirens and where I am all the sirens are going off...we're listening to radio. I'm staying put.

(just before we broke up the meeting to seek shelter several of us had noticed the sunset went yellow....then GREEN **this is never a good thing**)

about 10:15pm
Storm over my head seems to be weakening tornado warnings canceled. I'm headed home.

from a coworker at the hospital:
We had all the patients in the hallway for about a half hour. Scary!!

about 10:45pm
Prayers Answered home safe twisters here have gone still some in Dallas proper though, my parents are safe too

about 10:50pm
Oops here we go again. Tornado watch just issued for me until midnight there's another line of storms coming but so far it doesn't look as bad as the one that just passed

about 11:30pm
Here we GO!! Rain and STRONG wind just hit with a vengeance

about 12:30am
more developing west of here, but it looks like it's just rain....uh, sofar.... guess where I'm gonna be allnight?

as of my writing this post (1:30am) all is quiet and radar is nicely GREEN....but I have a massive migraine, which almost always means that the barometric pressure is dropping, which almost always happens right BEFORE a storm so I haven't relaxed any yet.

Driving home was a trip! The lightening was unbelieveable. It was constant with no breaks between bolts. At least once I saw a bolt that went both horizontal and vertical! The wind would come up and blow my van around. Fortunately the large hail and heavy rain didn't show up while I was driving.

They said that the wind shear in Dallas was >100mph and there were several reported touchdowns south and west of me. I'm sure we'll all see come daylight.

I have to tell ya, tornados are my WORST FEAR. I hate them with a passion. So, God, feel free to STOP THEM just anytime now. Our nation could use some Sun. Thanks.

If you haven't yet, stop by Stephanie's and say a prayer or three for the folks in Alabama. Something very very odd took place during those tornados that's causing medical issues no one's been able to diagnose.....

And of course we need to remember Joplin.

I'm hoping Dallas isn't added to the disaster list in the morn.

Goodnight folks, stay safe.

Summer is Coming!

(Just to let ya know, Sonshine got out of the splint after the MD appointment and all's well now! And life at work is downright weird, but that's a different post HA!)

Our plans for this summer are starting to come together!

We're going to do Vacation Bible School and 2 different week long day camps at our church.
In addition, I'm going to try and get some more things from last year's list done...and do some of the ones from last year AGAIN!!

Here's last year's list:

work on reading and handwriting with the kids
get Gator (and maybe Sugars too) out of pullups and into underwear/panties
begin teaching Sonshine (and maybe the other two too) to play the piano
go on family field trips every 2-3 weeks. ideas for places to go are: Sharkarosa, Ft Worth Zoo, Dallas Arboretum, Planetarium, The Heard Museum, Family Theater Series, the Dallas Aquarium, ride the Tarantula and see the cattle drive at the Ft Worth Stockyards.

Well for this year, it's just Sugars I need to get finished potty training. We're stuck on getting the poop in the potty. And we're definitely going back to The Heard Museum! We've been a few times and it's just wonderful. Plus the fountains to play in the water!

In addition to that we are definitely going to try and attend THIS:

I mean, how cool does THAT sound??!!!!

Since this is also offered in my area we may just have to take the kids to a movie or two this summer too!

My new part time job, wonderful as it is, is going to cause some scheduling difficulty this summer. So I may not get to do everything I want with the kids. But by golly I'm going to do as much as I can!

Are you looking forward to your summer? What are your plans?

Goodness!

Wow, life has gotten away from me again.

I still have a ton of pictures to post and things to talk about. I'm loving the new job and anxiously awaiting the END of school! My sister's quilt is almost finished and Sonshine sprained his ankle last Friday at Field Day and is in a splint until we see the orthopedic doc later this afternoon. My job at the hospital is as crazy and unrewarding as ever.

Do your feet swell?

I found the most awesome socks!

They are made by Juzo are unisex and look like regular socks, BUT they are actually medical compression socks (or "support socks"). Made originally for diabetics they support my feet, ankles and lower legs fabulously while having the extra cushion on the sole that a good thick athletic sock has.....and they're cotton, not hose!

Juzo Silver Sole Comfort Socks (Mens & Womens)
Compression: 12-16 mmHg
Colors: Below Ankle: Pink, Black and white (Pink in SML) Low Cut: Only available in white Crew: Black and White Knee-high: Black and White

Juzo® Silver Sole is made with X-STATIC® silver fibers which allow Silver Sole to naturally and safely eliminate common bacteria and fungi. And with the pillowed sole protection you can walk for miles and your feet will feel great.

Diabetic Friendly!
Silver Knitted for antibacterial protection & odor reduction
Pillowed Sole adds cushion to reduce blistering and callous buildup
Channeled Toe Seam, reduces toe irritation
Mild compression in the foot and ankle

I like cushy socks and don't like wearing hose under socks for the 14 hours I'm up and about when working and these socks are wonderful! I bought the crew style sock and have noticed a big improvement in my feet. Plus they are machine washable and dryable!!!

So, while no one knows or cares that I'm telling you all about these socks **ie, this is not a paid advertisement!** if you have issues with puffy feet I seriously recommend you give these socks a try! Do shop around a bit though because I actually found about a $5 per pair variance in the price at some online stores!

So, here's to happy feet and typing fingers! :-)

Pillowcases are Sacred!!

I was making my bed with all new sheets yesterday morning when Sugars walks in and DEMANDS that I give back "her" pillowcase.

I had no idea that she was so attached to the Beatrix Potter pillowcase my friend Lori had made for her awhile back.

Well she grabbed the pillowcase, tore the Tinkerbell one off her pillow and got Daddy to replace it with the Beatrix Potter one.

Crisis adverted I headed into the linen closet in search of another pillowcase for my pillow. Finished making my bed and climbed in.

That evening when the kids all come to wake me up Gator spots the pillowcase I'd put on Subvet's pillow and shouts at me, "Momma! What's that?" I tell him it's Daddy's pillow. A minute later Daddy comes in and kneels down to talk to the kids, Gator goes up, puts a hand on each of Subvet's cheeks and nose to nose with him, in his most serious voice says, "Daddy, what are you doing with my cars and trucks on your pillow?"

I guess from now on I'm going to need to be a little more careful about which pillowcase goes on which pillow, huh?

Curtains Part Two

Got the boys' curtains made this week :0)

Here's the before shot..... It's a white flannel sheet that I'd made into curtains for an apartment. The other two panels are currently over my washer/dryer space and this one was extra. As you can tell I just folded it to the right length and sewed, leaving the top half of the window double thickness. The lace at the bottom of the curtain is cute....but not very masculine.

When I asked the boys what color they wanted for their curtains Gator immediately said "Black!"

Which I VETO'd!!

Sonshine went along with his brother saying he also wanted black.....or purple. YIKES! what's a Momma to do????

Here's what we found:

Oh Yeah!!! Hooray for Hobby Lobby!

I lined it in polkadots, just for fun.

And after ruining the fabric I'd originally planned for the side panels I went back to Hobby Lobby in search of some fabric I remembered seeing.....

I know, right? How C.U.T.E. is this???

Happy boys, Happy Momma.....NO black curtains.

:-)

I'm going to take a break and get some hand quilting done before I start the curtains for the living room. You know, the ones that I wanted to do in the FIRST place which started my whole "we need new curtains" frenzy.......

My new job that starts on Sat night is a secondary income position. I will be able to work from home, from 9pm till either 7 or 9am depending on the day. These hours are perfect as I don't have to leave the house and I won't start work till after the kids are in bed (bedtime is 8pm). The job is answering call for about 60 Pediatrician offices across the nation, in Maine, Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, Mississippi and Texas. So if you call your pediatrician after hours and opt to talk to a nurse....you just might get ME! :o) This old world seems to get a bit smaller every day!
