My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

It's about learning how to dance in the rain."

Goals!!!

So waaay back on the 6th I made some goals.....Here's my 2 week (uh, plus) update.

1) run errands - done! my errands included buying new pots for my new cactcusssses, mailing all my Christmas gifts, emptying out my life savings to pay the orthodontist, and finally buying some more contacts, 1st down!, ball on the 40!

2) go to the GYM! - done, well, I went last week. Last night, when I was finally feeling up to it, I decided that 25 degrees was just too cold to get out to the gym!! 1st down! ball on the 30!

3) repot my 2 new Christmas Cacti - but I may wait till they stop blooming to do that. - This is done, after a fashion. I actually just put the whole potted thing inside the new pots. I'll wait a bit longer to actually repot them since they're still THINKING about blooming. I kinda overwatered them and I don't think they get enough sun up there so the blooms aren't opening up much.

But I do love my new pots and the look of them above the TV! Isn't it great that the dark blue in the pots matches my wall perfectly?? Those little cacti plus two other little ones I got for $1.25 a piece will go into the pots with the big un's once I repot everything.

The big ones are fuscia and the little ones white so that should look really nice when they bloom again! 1st down! ball on the 20!

4) make 2 baby blankets for my friends that are due in April - done! one of the two has been delivered, the other will be sometime this week! they both look just like the flowers one in this post if you wanna see em. 1st down! ball on the 10!

5) get started on my sister's housewarming quilt. - not done yet, but ready to get started!

6) begin quilting my Mommie Quilt. - not yet.....

other things that made it onto my list in the last 2 weeks and got done:

*make gumbo with the LAST of my Lafayette sausage from my trip last July!

*mend the comforter that my mom made for Sonshine's birthday--it didn't fare well in the washer

*fix the pictures in the dining area....I took out last year's school pictures and put this year's in their places, then took several of my old pictures of the kids and replaced all hubby's Navy certificates with hooligan photos!

here's the best "before" pic I could find since I forgot to take one.

and the after shot:
I'm soo happy that I finally did this!!

So I'm claiming a TOUCH DOWN for this goal post!!

For next week (ish?)

1) Piece top for my sister's quilt

2) put away all ribbon etc and generally straighten up my sewing corner

3) continue rearranging and decluttering my "stuff and pretties" so that my living room is a bit more livable. The top of the entertainment center with my cacti is part of this ongoing process. I'll show you more as I go.

4) relax more, enjoy more, sleep more, exercise more.

and how about you? what are your upcoming goals??

What do you say to THAT???

So, yesterday morning as I was getting undressed for my shower hubby walks in followed by Sugars. (the boys were THANKFULLY at school) Hubby and I needed to map out our 1 car family plan for the day so I sat on the potty ~necked~ while we worked out who was going where when. I didn't think too much about Sugars being underfoot. After all, we're both girls.....

Well, as I'm sitting there she's looking me over.

I mean, she's oogling me better than a 15 yr old boy would oogle a cheerleader!!

After about 5 min or so of looking at me from every angle she finally looks me in the eye, and in her sweetest Angel voice says:

"Mommie, can I wear your boobies?"

Guess who got braces today!

nope, not Sugars

nope, not Gator-boy

Hoo-Ahh!! He LOVES his brand new purple braces!! I can't get enough of this sweet smile!

In other news, Daddy let Sugars pick her clothes out today......

right down to the pink hair clips.....
She has amazing color coordination......

And now for a glimpse into my life via my facebook page:

Drinking hot tea to soothe my aching throat and seriously considering going to an allergist like my PCP told me to.....a year ago.

My constant companion missed me while I was on my retreat this weekend!

Sonshine (7) goes to take a drink from his sport bottle, the lid is loose dumping water down his front...he gets a new shirt and goes again for a drink...BEFORE I'VE HAD A CHANCE TO TIGHTEN THE LID... it dumps down his front again....he says.... "This bottle has made a fool out of me!" ......WHERE does he get this stuff???!!

Okay so my 7 yr old just reached up and took something down from ON TOP OF the fridge.

It helps if you take your indoor prescription glasses off BEFORE you put your prescription sunglasses on!!!!!!

It's been pretty busy and exciting around here. Seems I've been under the weather for toooooo long now! But I have been able to work my way down most of my todo list and goals!!

I'm gonna try to get another thing crossed off the list and then I'll put up my goals post so stay tuned!

I hope that each of you are having a fun and funny week!

SNOW DAY!!

You might have heard that we had snow last Sunday. Matter of fact, although it only snowed on Sunday and Monday, there's still some on the ground and rooftops. These pictures were taken Sunday afternoon.

Uh, Texas kids don't have need for gloves as a rule...so we improvised....

See our snowman? Subvet says we had bad snow, it was too dry for making snowmen....

So we had to taste it to see if it was too early for snow! Sonshine decided it needed sugar....

And while it was too dry for snowmen, it was okay for snowballs........which of course means we had to have a Snowball Fight!!

Good times!
by the way, the high on Sunday is 53, low 42 with a 50% chance of rain.......
round here we enjoy our winter while we can! ;-)

about those teeth.....

My Aunt Betsy posted this on my facebook page:

I'm surprised it took so long to find the teeth!! HaHaHaHa!!!! You'd be surprised at what your Aunt Sheryl and I found cleaning out Mom and Dad's house. We thought we'd share the wealth so to speak. I knew you would probably keep the buttons and stuck them in there.

Bets has always been known as the family prankster!!

Sheryl's contribution to the facebook conversation was:

Hey that's silver in them thar teefs... Times are hard Missy, pick out the silver!!!

or not, thanks anyway.

and if you'd like to know where this sense of humor came from...go here.....then follow the links at the end of that post....
Love you Aunt Betsy and Sheryl!!

Oh yeah....and if you followed the link to this post and were wondering...my answering maching currently says
"We're busy chasing children, leave a message and we'll call you back."

my cell says
"Hello, I'm busy herding hooligans today, please leave a message and I'll call you back."

I'm part of this family too you know!
You may call it odd.....to us it's our Legacy.

the ODDEST thing I've ever seen!

You may remember that awhile back I received an inheritance from my Grandmother.

Well, tonight I needed to fix this....

So I went looking through this....

To find this.....

But I did NOT expect to find this....

Which did indeed contain THIS.....

Anyone got any ideas why Grandmother'd have TEETH stored in her buttons???

nah, me neither...

Goals!

yes, we're polishing our hard hat!
So, now that I'm done working for a few days it's time to make some GOALS!!
1) run errands
2) go to the GYM!
3) repot my 2 new Christmas Cacti - but I may wait till they stop blooming to do that.
4) make 2 baby blankets for my friends that are due in April
5) get started on my sister's housewarming quilt.
6) begin quilting my Mommie Quilt.
Sonshine got spacers yesterday at his first ever ORTHODONTIST appointment!!!
He's sooooo excited! He can't wait to get "purple bracelets"!!! He'll be in and out of appliances and braces for the next 6 years. So I hope his excitement lasts awhile.....a LOOONG while.
Look for pictures in about a month.
The orthodontist had 2 skulls in her office, one named Sir Skullywood and the other named Mr Bone Jangles. Sonshine had a blast holding the skull during the visit.....then he turned it upside down and was playing with the spring that holds the jaw on....
"Excuse me! this skull makes a good musical instrument!" he says while scratching his nail across the spring.
hahahaha, who knew?

Happy New Year!

I'm working on another blog post....

in the meantime I have a couple things to share.

Y'all asked me where the picture was of our Advent Calendar poster from this year.

In the center at the bottom you can see a bit of Sonshine's snowman, lean your head to the left and you can see Gator's Christmas tree and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and if you lean your head to the right while using your imagination you can almost see the 3 or 4 orange dots that Sugars says are Chrismas lights. (I had them all color the poster at the same time sitting around the end of our kitchen table.)

I started off the year by working. Thurs, Fri, Sat nights, and this week I'll work Mon, Tues, Wed. (yes, you counted right, that's 6 out of 7 nights straight)

So last night, while Subvet was off at Mass and shopping was my first real time with the kids this year.....

The kids and I used our time to pack up all our indoor Christmas decorations. And I've gotten into a declutter and rearrange mood lately. So we're also moving some of our pretty's around and getting rid of some stuff too.

Once all the ornaments and lights were off the tree each kid gave it a hug and said "I love you Christmas Tree! See you next Christmas." to it before I disassembled it and packed it up.

To "celebrate" Sonshine and I conducted an experiment.

We put a glass (plastic fortunately...) of water in the freezer and left it for the night.

When he got up at FOUR THIS MORNING....all he wanted to do was check on that glass!!

Well, we found out that water will indeed freeze into ice overnight...and that it gets bigger! Big enough to break our glass!! So we set it in the sink and waited, once the ice had melted enough to come out of the glass we decided to continue our experimentation....

We concluded that ice is COLD and WET...

That it slides across our concrete kitchen floor really fast.
And that it melts in the microwave!!
heh heh heh.
Wonder what we'll experiment with on Thursday night when Subvet's off at his meeting??
