My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

stuff, and early Thesaurus Thursday....

Well, since I never know what tomorrow may bring I think I'll get T-T up and running early this week, give you an extra day since I shorted you a day last week :-), but before I get to that I want you all to know that I greatly appreciate all the prayers, keep em on coming. I have an interview on Friday at 1pm CST for a job working nights at an inpatient rehab hosp that is going to open Jan 10th. All patients must be able to do 3 hours of PT a day or they get shipped elsewhere, no vents, no lines (as in IVs) best I can figure job description would be a) make sure everyone is breathing periodically b) pass out pain meds as requested c) help to and from bathroom.....and every nurse has a tech. When the Director of Nursing called to set up the interview I told him all about needing the hysterectomy and he said the time off is "no problem at all" we didn't discuss money, but if there's a sign-on bonus that could answer the money during time off issue....assuming he offers me a job. We'll just have to wait and see what God chooses for me.

I've written before about my sons' sleeping habits. Or more accurately, the many lengths they've gone to in order to boycott their naps.

So I just thought I'd show some pics of their latest escapades.....

But sometimes nothing can keep the bedbugs away and you just HAVE to sleep....no matter where you (or your brother) are.

And speaking of good places to sleep, Daddy's recliner is a great spot to catch a few winks!

Now, apparently Mr. Boots (full name Mr. Ima Mess Boots) decided he would get his nap in a very comfy spot and, while he was at it, started practicing for when Sugars is older and will be dressing him up for tea.

I made no "rusty-tutions" this year (Tigger in A Very Merry Pooh Year), but I have set a few goals that I would like to see progress toward by the end of 2008. There are 2 goals that I am going to be focusing on the most. The first is to get all my unfinished sewing projects finished. In order to achieve this goal I will be devoting a couple nights a week to sewing. I say this to let you know if you don't see new posts as frequently as last year, don't worry. I made a list, and if I'm remembering all the ones I've started or planned, there were 14 as of last night, as of tonight there are 13. I finished putting elastic in the bottom of Gator-boy's sweats today.

My other main goal is to lose the extra weight that I've acquired over the last several years. Somewhere in my wanderings I came across a widget-thing in a sidebar that showed progress toward a weight goal and I may wander back over there and see if I can't borrow it or something similar. Trying to keep a separate "weight loss blog" running is just more than my brain can imagine but I do think that public support and accountability will help....so you may be seeing more on that topic later.

Well now, ON TO THE GAME!!

For those who are new here today, the "rules" of Thesaurus Thursday are as follows:

First and foremost, leave as many funny definitions for either word (or both) as you can think up in the comments!! The ones that make me laugh the hardest will be given the Silly Goose Award.
Next, if you know (or think you know) the true definitions without looking them up then be sure and leave those in the comments too!! All definitions that are correct (or close enough for government work and Mighty Mom) will win the Smarty Pants Award!

Our words for this week are:

omphalos

sinistral

Awards will be given out in Saturday's post, so don't forget to come back and see if you won!

To close I will put this up.
It came off an email I got...one of those send to x people and make a wish things. Well, the email isn't worth resending, but I just love this guy's "signature". Fits me to a tee!

Life is short!
Break the rules!
Forgive quickly!
Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably..
And never regret anything that made you smile

Your littlest apple sure didn't fall far from the Daddy tree. ;o)

Fingers crossed for the job, and still praying.

Omphalos - Kinky word for the male apparatus. "Did you see the omphalos on that guy?"

Sinistral - Southern slang for creepy. "He shore was a sinistral lookin' character, wudden 'e?"

LOL! I was just thinking that phalos was awfully close to phallic! So, I'm thinking it's being able to point in all directions? Not sure if that is the serious answer or the goofy one, but I'm not going any further on that word!

Sinistral--female form of sinister?

Love the family sleeping pictures. Wonder why there's never one of Mom sleeping?

Oooo, cush job, cush job! I'm jealous.

I haven't a funny thought in my head about these two words? And as for a real definition, well, I am not even going there. I do think Diane's omphalos def is the best. Had me in stitches! Good grief, where do you come up with them :? By the way, I am praying Psalm 20:4&5 for all my blogging sisters, as suggested by a friend. It is a powerful scripture. On that note, byby.

OOps. OK. I love Diane's "sinistral" def. and the example. Actually "wudden e'" cracks me up.
Let's try this one.
sinistral - In the Rennaisance era, a travelling musician who sang only evil, ominous songs,
Example: Oh, no. Everybody inside. Here comes that roving sinistral.

Good luck with your interview, I hope it goes well!

Now, let's see what I can do with these words ...

Omphalos - I work in a medical sort of field so I know this one. It's the navel or belly button as some might prefer.

Sinistral - The only thing that popped into mind when I first saw this word was the song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" so of course I'm with everyone else in thinking that it's some sort of sinister singer!

Good Evening Mighty Mom,
"CONGRATULATIONS" on getting the job. I know you will adjust to it and Subvet will be able to take care of the kids. Okay, let me give this a try. SINISTRAL- Redneck word for Sinus problems. Billy, pass me that corn cob so I can clean out my Sinistral cavitity. OMPHALOS-Redneck word for Old halos. Jed said look at them thar omphalos around them kids heads.
There's my 2 cents worth. LOL. Hope everyone is feeling better your way. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.
