My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

It's about learning how to dance in the rain."

Friday Fragments

Created by Mrs 4444, Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, "Heard" items, and other small gems and put them together in a Friday Fragments post.

Don't forget to vote!

a sneek peek.

"Hello Speedy! I'm Speedy!"

yes, once she saw the tail she forgot all about the elephant.....

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Heard from down the hall......"do you want pizza for supper tonight or fried flies in oil?"

He'd better watch out, one day these kids are gonna call that bluff!!

Preschool had a Halloween Parade Wed.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

my 5 year old son learned this morning that spinning around on your hiney....necked.....on the carpet....is NOT a good idea!

"ouch! Momma! it HURT me!!!"

no, I wasn't able to keep a straight face.

[][][][][][][][][][]][][][][]

yes, I KNOW that this is Friday and Halloween is Sunday.
no, I HAVEN'T finished the other 2 costumes.
no, I'm NOT working on them.
yes, they WILL be done on time.
no, I'm NOT procrastinating!

I am waiting for "the opportune moment"

Friday Fragmentedness

Okay, I'll actually link and post this on Friday and everything so as to be "official".....

These are the pictures from the other half of Grandparent weekend at school:

Mimi came and read these two books to Gator's class...

They had a great time!

10 points to the person who can guess WHAT Sonshine's doing here:
**I'll put the answer in the comments**

Hint: it's not the same as what he's doing here:

As part of their Book Fair week the school asked for pictures of any former or current military friends or family of the kids to be displayed on their Wall of Heroes. So of course I sent this in....

Yes, my backpack is almost as big as me...and yes I insist on carrying it anyway! It's not like I'm some puny giiiirrrlll or something!!

Matter of fact, as you can see I'm the biggest girl in my class!

By the way, strange (and yet wonderful) things are happening on the job front......what exactly ARE you people praying for???!!!! (keep at it, whatever it is...thanks)

Update.

I guess I could call this Friday fragments on Sunday night....

Sorry I've been away folks.

I have read EVERYTHING in my Google Reader, but some blogs, particularly the wordpress ones wouldn't let me comment so just know I've been by and loved everything you wrote.

I got my flu shot Friday morning as I left work. Therefore I've been feeling flu-y for the last 2 days. This is NORMAL after getting a vaccine, any vaccine. And I'm sick and tired of listening to people use it as an excuse not to get a flu shot each year. Get a grip people. Unless you spend 10 days in bed thinking you'd rather die and wondering if anyone saw the TRAIN that hit you....you didn't get the flu from the flu shot. Any questions??

I am very very excited about a new job opportunity, but I'm very very nervous that SOMETHING will go wrong....so all prayers are appreciated! It's SOOO good and SUCH a prayer answered beyond my wildest hopes that I probably won't believe it's real till AFTER I've worked there a couple weeks!!!

I FINALLY started feeling like working on my projects again! I have gotten my Mommie Quilt all pinned and ready for quilting. Now it gets set aside while I work on Christmas gifts. In October I'll start assembling the Halloween costumes!

My next door neighbor got a new dog about a month or so ago....it barks/howls ALL.NIGHT.LONG. every night. loud enough to drown out my movie/music! sigh.

By the way....my children are a bit...well....enthusiastic....about Sunday School these days.

disregard Subvet talking at the end there, he walked in talking about something totally unrelated and wasn't aware that I was filming....

oh crap, I only posted ONCE since last Friday! and I wonder why my hits are falling through the basement??!!!!

To Sugars' Preschool teacher....
Me=Momma, you=Not-the-Momma, don't tell me how to potty train my child! This AIN'T my first rodeo people!!!!!!

and I quote "if they're in training pants that's NOT potty training!! when you want to start potty training her, put her in panties. I want this done by January"
give me a freeakkkingggg break!!!!!!

Of course if said teacher would take her to the potty MORE than ONCE A DAY it might help her keep those training pants dry!
aarrrrggghhhhh
Today was Grandparent's Day for First Grade, and Homecoming in my tiny town....
so, we......

Had Grannie come and read Sonshine's FAVORITE book to his class, Epossumondas by Coleen Salley.

Seriously folks, if you've ever known someone from Louisiana, check out these books! Terrific reads for children.

As you can see Grannie dressed up as Epossumondas' Momma for storytime.

Then when story time was over but we were waiting for school to let out she read one of the other five books in the Epossumondas series. Sonshine wasn't the only one who thought these were awesomely cool books!

At home while waiting till time to pick up Sugars from preschool we read another of the books.....

Then it was on to the Homecoming Parade!

Great things about small town parades....

1) chances are you know people on most of the floats, in the firetrucks, in the band, riding the horses etc...

2) you get a curb view no matter where you are on the route.

And, 3) special kudos to the two boys (about 10-12 I'd guess) who stood on either side of us. I've never seen 2 kids go so far out of their way UNASKED to make sure my little guys got some of each candy thrown. To the point of gathering it all up, then dividing it between their, Sonshine's and Gator's bags for them!! Y'all are AWESOME boys!!!! Made my heart melt.

of course, it was hard to tell the melting heart from the rest of my melting body...

Which is why number

4) is small town parades are SHORT! only about 20 min long! Which is all I cared for between the noise and the heat!!

:-)

What a wonderful day.

How's your friday going?

Over a year ago I won a box of daylillies from Adrienne, who sells such things....They have FINALLY bloomed!!

Anyone remember the little plant my daughter (or her teacher...) gave me for Mother's Day?? The one my cat ate? Well I stuck what was left of the poor thing in the little bed I'm creating out back...between the daylillies......it's happy there.

Also last summer, along with a ton of stuff from my grandmother, my aunt brought me some daylillies from her yard.....they're happy now too....

the roses, unfortunately didn't survive my neglect last winter. I'm gonna stop in Tyler and buy some more during my trip and try again!

How To Train Your Dragon.....

Daddilocks makes the Three Hooligans some cheesecake......

Some like the crust....some like the middle...some would rather have chocolate! (I vote with the last myself.)

Poor Daddy! Can't get no respect!

Fraggin from Hell.

Thank God it's Friday and I have the next 4 nights off work! This was Hell Week for me at work!!!!!!!!

Gave my finished quilt a last hug and packed it in the box with some lagniappe. But I'm having a very hard time composing the letter/card to go with it. Which begs the question....does it HAVE to have a card? Since the quilt is labeled she'll know who it's from. There's more in the quilt itself than can be said in words...and when I try to find words to explain it I start crying. I remember hearing about when a famous poet (which one escapes my memory) was asked to explain his poem his reply was "You want me to say it WORSE???!!!" Sums up my feelings exactly.

I took pictures of the quilt to post once it reaches my friend. Here's hoping it's a BIG surprise!

My poor hubby. I really do feel bad for him. He's been sick all week. Today he's "feeling good enough to be cranky" as I tell my patients, this is when you know you're on the mend. Never thought I'd be so happy to see his cranky side. And, of course, I've worked all week and been absolutely NO HELP to him at all. It stinks that stay at home parents don't get sick days.

stopping by the little store in my tiny town on my way home from work yesterday I thought I was so tired I was seeing things at first.
click on image to read the sign better.

**updated with better picture**

That's. Just. Wrong!

My Wonderful Life isn't that cute?? Mrs4444 made it for me so that I'd have a button for her blogroll thing. Not sure what I'm sposed to do next though....

Trying to potty train my autistic 5 yr old. I'm not sure I have enough patience for this!! I'm about to resort to bribing him with M&Ms!

guess I played too many Farkle games in a row.... I get a notice saying "you may be addicted to our site...we're giving you a break, you may return in a few minutes". DUH. I'm not addicted...I'm just trying to stay awake!

"He didn't have brains enough to bait a fish hook with." Mark Twain. A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court.

Am I the only one who can't spell Connecticut without looking it up? No matter how many times I look it up!

Is that enough frags? Is there a limit to these things? I never know.....

Friday Fragments.....

I've stopped playing farmville....iphone checkers is sooo much more fun! and doesn't eat up hours at a time!! plus I feel like I'm actually USING my brain.

I'm still going to the gym twice a week. I ride 10 miles. haven't beat my best time yet.

I'm still quilting on my surprise quilt for the Spring to Finish challenge. I've got 11 days left to finish it!!

I'm reading blogs! Really I am!! it's harder to comment on the iphone so my comments have gotten shorter...but I AM still reading.

I finally got a call on my resume! If the money's right this could be a FANTASTIC opportunity! The supervisor is out of town till June 1st so I won't be able to schedule an interview till then. PRAYERS PLEASE!

This is the month my schedule is sooo screwy. So I may or may not be online...or awake. I hate these times cuz sleeping all day on a night off feels like a waste of time. But having the house quiet and to myself all night is kinda nice.

Summer's coming!! I've already scheduled our first summer field trip! Any of y'all wanna come too?? What do you say to us meeting at the Dallas Arboretum for a picnic? I can't wait to see Peter Rabbit's flower village for kids!! But my kids will be most excited about THIS:

"Family Fun Mondays
Every Monday, May 3 to July 26 from 10am-2pm
Fun family activities available every Monday include face painting and a petting zoo in the Pecan Grove. Have an outdoor adventure with the Kid's Summer Discovery Guide which features a Peter Rabbit™ Flower Village scavenger hunt and the Bronze Crow Statues scavenger hunt. (In case of rain, the petting zoo may be canceled)."

yes, there will be pictures taken and posted!!

speaking of pictures I have the last of the B&B pics to post, plus the horseback riding pics, plus butterfly garden pics! Guess that's what I'll be spending my Fri and Sat nights off doing!!

since when did Kindergarteners do math? Homework lately has consisted of addition and subtraction WORD PROBLEMS!!! Good Grief!

Sonshine loves school! but I'm tired of doing homework! Am I weird?? how is it the parent is more tired of homework than the student?? what's WRONG with this picture?

Mrs 4444 seems to think we all need to make a "button" for our blog...something other blogs then post to network with I guess.....Who thinks I need to make a button? Who wants to volunteer to make it for me??? :-)

Friday Frags,....the playing catch up edition...

Created by Mrs 4444, Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, "Heard" items, and other small gems and put them together in a Friday Fragments post.

you may remember that I decorated cupcakes for Sugars' birthday at school....

well, I did the same thing for Gator's birthday

Everyone loves Daddy's homemade banana pudding....matter of fact..there's not much left when they're done,

Sugars' bowl

Gator's bowl

Sonshine's bowl

but they might want Daddy to leave out the bananas next time haha!

well, I guess they didn't want the gate to be left open......

for the record. I hate Easter grass! I can think of nothing that makes more of a mess for less of a reason.

been a rough week around here. Gator's still sick, now it's vomiting to go with the pneumonia. FUN!

friday fragments the home sick edition

Created by Mrs 4444, Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, "Heard" items, and other small gems and put them together in a Friday Fragments post.

yes, they spent all day in their jammies.....more than once!

thanks to Aunt Sheryl for the Fantasia coffee table book...the kids are really enjoying looking at the pictures before, during, and after watching the video...over, and over, and over. This beats Bugs Bunny hands down for the Mommy Satisfaction Award!

the necessity of many loads of laundry can make for strange bedfellows....

a bunch of cards can be fun for an hour in the hands of 3 hooligans.....not that I understood their "game" but they were happy so who cares?

"Look Momma! I'm a Card Boy!"

Momma says, "Come on let's clean this mess up before Daddy gets home." (from adoration)
Sonshine says, "NO Momma! We have to wait for Daddy to get home to clean up so we can be a TEAM!"
