My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

Gold Star Mothers
Do you know a Gold Star Mother?
Take a moment this weekend to pray for the families of all those brave men and women who have given the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Freedom.

On my girl
You guys are the bestestesses!!!
I can't say how much we appreciate all the prayers and good wishes!
Our application has been turned over to the USPS who will be winging it to the top of the huge pile in Patient Access at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
If you haven't yet, take a few minutes and read up on this fabulous hospital! Then you'll know why we're so very anxious for her to get in!!
And now we begin the wait.
For those who have worried about her, fear not. Her unbalanced legs have not slowed her down one bit! She's a rough and tumble girl who rules her brothers and nothing's gonna stop her. We'd really like her to be accepted SOON! Because no matter how much I practice, I'm just not very good at waiting!!

10 years ago today.

There were a total of 2,996 deaths, including the 19 hijackers and 2,977 victims.[39] The victims were distributed as follows: 246 on the four planes (from which there were no survivors), 2,606 in New York City in the towers and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon.[40][41] All the deaths in the attacks were civilians except for 55 military personnel killed at the Pentagon.[42]

Prepare Yourself
My bloging hiatus is about to end!!!
Last night was the LAST of my Tuesday night women's meetings at church. while they were wonderful I am ready to be done with the weekly commitment. However, I've made friendships that I know will last a lifetime.
Tonight, after my boss tried to sideswipe me, is my last night at the hospital. It's been real, but not at all fun. And I'm glad to put this particular job in my rearview mirror! Again I leave here with many good friends.
So, I'm off on a brand new adventure!
It's exciting and fun, but I am a dedicated creature of habit. It will take me some time to create new habits and get my routine down.
For now, I'll leave you with a movie quote, who can name that movie??
"Beginnings are scary. Endings are usually sad, but it's what's in the middle that counts. So, when you find yourself at the beginning, just give hope a chance to float up. And it will!"

Happy Dance!!
PEOPLE!!!
There are some things in motion that are just too super cool to keep to myself!
my boss of my part time job (the work from home job) called me before work last night.....after a few months, (like end of summer) she's willing to do some things on my behalf (such as contract for a guaranteed minimum pay per paycheck) that might enable me to turn my part time job into my full time job and turn the hosp into a PRN job!!!
the very idea of this blows my brains to spaghetti-o's.
So, you're invited to dance and pray with me! :-)

My night as recorded on facebook:
about 9:30pm
Tornados coming!! At church with 14 ladies and 2 newborns in bathroom. Hubby at home with my 3 kids. Please pray, My town has no sirens and where I am all the sirens are going off...we're listening to radio. I'm staying put.
(just before we broke up the meeting to seek shelter several of us had noticed the sunset went yellow....then GREEN **this is never a good thing**)
about 10:15pm
Storm over my head seems to be weakening tornado warnings canceled. I'm headed home.
from a coworker at the hospital:
We had all the patients in the hallway for about a half hour. Scary!!
about 10:45pm
Prayers Answered home safe twisters here have gone still some in Dallas proper though, my parents are safe too
about 10:50pm
Oops here we go again. Tornado watch just issued for me until midnight there's another line of storms coming but so far it doesn't look as bad as the one that just passed
about 11:30pm
Here we GO!! Rain and STRONG wind just hit with a vengeance
about 12:30am
more developing west of here, but it looks like it's just rain....uh, sofar.... guess where I'm gonna be allnight?
as of my writing this post (1:30am) all is quiet and radar is nicely GREEN....but I have a massive migraine, which almost always means that the barometric pressure is dropping, which almost always happens right BEFORE a storm so I haven't relaxed any yet.
Driving home was a trip! The lightening was unbelieveable. It was constant with no breaks between bolts. At least once I saw a bolt that went both horizontal and vertical! The wind would come up and blow my van around. Fortunately the large hail and heavy rain didn't show up while I was driving.
They said that the wind shear in Dallas was >100mph and there were several reported touchdowns south and west of me. I'm sure we'll all see come daylight.
I have to tell ya, tornados are my WORST FEAR. I hate them with a passion. So, God, feel free to STOP THEM just anytime now. Our nation could use some Sun. Thanks.
If you haven't yet, stop by Stephanie's and say a prayer or three for the folks in Alabama. Something very very odd took place during those tornados that's causing medical issues no one's been able to diagnose.....
And of course we need to remember Joplin.
I'm hoping Dallas isn't added to the disaster list in the morn.
Goodnight folks, stay safe.

Pure Awesomesauce!
As my little sister would say.
This is IT folks! I'm just about to embark on a whole new adventure! I'm sooo excited!
I was offered a new job tonight. This will be a part time "extra income" job that consists of answering call for 60+ Pediatrician Offices after hours. My shift will be from 9pm to 9am. 2 nights a week.
The best part? It's a work from home position!! How cool is that?
I won't have to start work till after the kids are in bed and there's no travel time.
and then, as if that weren't good enough!
I got a call this morning from the lady that wants me to be her daughter's private duty nurse. The funding for her to get nursing care has made a huge leap forward and should be coming through sometime soon!! This job is also one I can set my hours on, so I won't have to leave for her house till after the kids are in bed.
All in all I must say it's been a terrific Monday! Hope your day has gone well too.

Update.
I guess I could call this Friday fragments on Sunday night....
Sorry I've been away folks.
I have read EVERYTHING in my Google Reader, but some blogs, particularly the wordpress ones wouldn't let me comment so just know I've been by and loved everything you wrote.
I got my flu shot Friday morning as I left work. Therefore I've been feeling flu-y for the last 2 days. This is NORMAL after getting a vaccine, any vaccine. And I'm sick and tired of listening to people use it as an excuse not to get a flu shot each year. Get a grip people. Unless you spend 10 days in bed thinking you'd rather die and wondering if anyone saw the TRAIN that hit you....you didn't get the flu from the flu shot. Any questions??
I am very very excited about a new job opportunity, but I'm very very nervous that SOMETHING will go wrong....so all prayers are appreciated! It's SOOO good and SUCH a prayer answered beyond my wildest hopes that I probably won't believe it's real till AFTER I've worked there a couple weeks!!!

I FINALLY started feeling like working on my projects again! I have gotten my Mommie Quilt all pinned and ready for quilting. Now it gets set aside while I work on Christmas gifts. In October I'll start assembling the Halloween costumes!
My next door neighbor got a new dog about a month or so ago....it barks/howls ALL.NIGHT.LONG. every night. loud enough to drown out my movie/music! sigh.
By the way....my children are a bit...well....enthusiastic....about Sunday School these days.
disregard Subvet talking at the end there, he walked in talking about something totally unrelated and wasn't aware that I was filming....

I'm almost here....
Okay, so I have about 500 pictures to upload of my B&B night....and another 100 or so from the boys riding their horses last Saturday!
And I'm still trying to quilt on this project! 3 weeks left as of yesterday (Mon) eeeeekkk!! I"m not sure I'm gonna get it all done!
But I'm going to try and get the quilt done first because my friend needs it! She just doesn't KNOW she needs it yet.
As for the 3 prayer intentions I asked for.
1) my friend who started chemo today
2) my friend Nona who faced her first Mother's Day so soon after her daughter's death
3) we got a phone call yesterday about the routine bloodwork taken at the kids' physicals....."Sugars is fine, but we'd like you to come in to talk about Gator's" .... Geez Louizz! so we spent all night in full worry mode. Turns out the boy is "severly anemic" oh. okay. THAT I can deal with!
And, have you voted for me today yet?? You DO know you can vote EVERYDAY, right? Please go and vote...I'm in almost last place over there...and feeling quite underappreciated....(I'm nominated in the Best Underappreciated category...scroll down till you see it)
and because I feel guilty for not posting all those pictures yet....here's what I found when I went to check on the hooligans tonight.

Note: her feet are actually IN the pillowcase!

Yes, I did make sure the covers were more evenly distributed before I left!

Finding the Pepper
Wanting to be like the grownups, my kids will frequently ask for "salt and pepper" on their supper. What they don't know is that I just wave the salt shaker over their plate, then give them plenty of pepper. I do almost the same with my plate too. Not too much salt, but gimme that pepper! Without pepper the meal is just bland. The last two nights at work I was disgruntled that I couldn't find any pepper. There's a salt shaker, 45 salt packets and an entire BOX of salt...but no pepper anywhere.
So tonight I got smart(er) and packed our box of pepper with my lunch. (hope you didn't need it honey) result was a much tastier lunch.
I've been a bit disgruntled by a few things lately. The future of hospital nursing as I see it looks bleak. I've lived in our current house longer than anywhere else in my life....and wanderlust is starting to set in. I'm dreaming of moving places...from Alaska to Maine to Lafayette to just across town....just pack up and go. Thinking about different ways to use my RN that will be less effected by the socialization of medicine in our country. I'm once again searching all over for the pepper. And so far all I've found is a bunch of salt. Plans that don't pan out, more secure jobs that only pay half of what I'm getting now. I'm searching in places I've already looked.
But I want to get smart(er). I want to find that simple, yet ellusive, solution that will provide financial stability for us in the years to come.
Perhaps I should ask St Anthony for help. I hear he's good at finding things....maybe he'll help me find some pepper.
