My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

It's about learning how to dance in the rain."

what am I teaching?

So, it's early Ash Wednesday morning and the boys are in my bed trying to convince me that 5:30am is a good time to be awake....I decide to try teaching them about Ash Wednesday as a trick to keeping them still and in bed.

So, here's what Sonshine learned:

Daddy went to church early today because today is Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent.

Lent is when Jesus got the BooBoos.

After Lent is Easter.

Easter is when Jesus went up to Heaven for the Easter Egg Hunt.

well, we're on the right track I guess......

Sounds to me like you're on the right track. I'm not Catholic either but I don't think I need to be to understand the whole holiday. Though I'm not quite sure who started the whole "let's give something up for Lent" thing. Is that in the Bible somewhere and I missed it?
