I knew the mad sewing skills were passed down in my family...but I thought they all came from the other side.
Just goes to show......
and no. I would never attempt a coat like that as it really is a lot of work. I mean just the thought of lined sleeves makes me cringe...then make them tiny lined sleeves and I can feel the hives start!! Then did you see those bows?? She had to cut a very thin strip of fabric...sew it together length-wise....TURN IT RIGHT SIDE OUT...then tie the bow and sew it on. YIKES AND YOWZERS!
I would call that coat a "teach your kid to cuss activity!"
But I sure am glad to have it!
Oh and someone asked how to keep it safe. There is a process called heirlooming that you can have done. I need to have our baptismal gown heirloomed...I'll probably have them both done together. The baptismal gown was originally worn by Subvet (a few years ago) then was worn by Sonshine, Gator and Sugars.
mmmm maybe next week's Show and Tell topic???
