My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

Show and Tell

Hey, can you believe it?? I'm back for Show and Tell! It's been a few weeks but I thought I'd show some of the children's books I have. At least half of all the children's books in my house were from my childhood...and I'd inherited several of my Dad's books as well. These are two examples.

The Saggy Baggy Elephant has a copyright date of 1974. Here's a quick quiz for you. Kimbies Diapers are still around today...only they're known by a different name...who can guess the current name for these britches??

The Bible Stories for Little Children has a price on it of 19 cents and a copyright of MCMXLIX. It's in very good condition and I don't let the kids play with it. I have another book around here somewhere that is the 10 Commandments for Children and has my Dad's name written on the face page in my Grandma's handwriting. Very Cool Stuff! :-)

Go on over to Kelli's to see all the other Show and Tells!

Good Evening Mighty Mom,
I love the books you shared with us today. "THANK YOU" for sharing them with us. Okay, I'm going out no a limb here about guess the Kimbies Diapers. Is it by any chance Luv's Diaper's? It's been a good while since I've bought diaper's, so I am just guessing here. I can't believe that the Bible Stories for Children was bought for 19 Cents. I don't blame you one bit for not letting the kids use it. I bet that is a treasure of the 10 Commandments with your Dad's name on there written by your Mom. I know you cherish that one very much. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

I adore old books and have a number of them from my childhood and from my parents' childhood. There's something about the smell of old books too! Bible story books are some of my favourite to collect - perhaps I'll do that for another show and tell.

Great post! Have a lovely weekend!!

I love books too. The Goodwill had its grand opening yesterday. I bought 23 great kids book for my tornado of a grandbaby--they only cost 8 bucks including one for me!!! Can't wait to read them to her. She is crazy about books and she only turned one in October ;-)

I'm guessing the diapers are now Huggies, because they're made by Kimberly-Clark, and "Kimbies" sound as if they were Kimberly-Clark originals.

I like old fairy tale books and have a couple of those. Recently I found a couple of old Christmas story books, one I remember from my childhood, and I bought those, too.

I also have almost the entire collection of Cherry Ames nursing books, and my daughter is collecting Trixie Belden books. I introduced those to her as a little girl and she liked them as much as me.
