Last night went fairly well. Subvet's still pretty nervous, but I think we're gonna work all this out just fine. I'm also grateful that he has this opportunity to be close to his mother. She's 78.
So, here are two things (I keep having The Cat in the Hat going through my head!) that I stole from Cookie. I think they'll give you cause to smile today....and go shopping.......
Thing 1
Marine Corps General Reinwald was interviewed on the Radio the other day and you'll love his reply to the lady who interviewed him Concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you Feel about Gun Laws you gotta love this!!!! This is one of the best Comeback lines Of All time. It is a portion of a National PublicRadio (NPR) interview, which is a nationally funded, left wing, liberal radio station...... Between a female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting His military installation.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?
GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.
GENERAL REINWALD: Well, ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?
The radio went silent and the interview ended. You gotta love the Marines!
AMERICA , THE HOME OF THE FREE BECAUSE OFTHE BRAVE!!
Thing 2
Well Sir...as most of ya know, there be alot of negative stuff in the news and on the net regarding the war and anything connected with it....so here be sumthin positive that I think folks should be aware of.......
I know I needed this reminder since Sears isn't always my first choice. Amazing when you think of how long the war has lasted and they haven't withdrawn from their commitment. Could we each buy at least one thing at Sears this year?
How does Sears treat its employees who are called up for military duty? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up.
Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years.
I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution. I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.
Pass it on.
I Decided to check this before I posted it.
A letter sent to the Sears Customer Service Department was answered this way:
Dear Customer: Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback.
Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

Please pass this on to all your friends. Sears needs to be recognized for this outstanding contribution and we need to show them as Americans, we do appreciate what they are doing for our military!!!

and the first story was funny.
Thing #1 - I bet that shut her up but good!
Thing #2 - Cheers to Sears!
OH my goodness!!! #1 is GREAT!! LOL great come back!
and #2 is good too! We have Sears here in Canada but I think it's a different company...but way to go Sears!!
thanks for dropping in today. Hope the baby's better quick...and glad it's going ok with MIL.
I didn't realize this! I may have to pull out my ol' Sears charge card! I do buy an occassional thing or two there, but will start to look more consistently. We should all be sharing this info with our circles. Wouldn't it be great if Walmart, Target, etc. would be as willing to do their part for the love of country and service men?
