My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

It's about learning how to dance in the rain."

Father's Day Pics

So I think I told ya that last Saturday we went to my Dad and stepmom's house for burgers and dogs and fun.

The new header picture was taken in her breakfast nook right after herding them all back inside for a drink...hence the flushed faces! :-)

Here are some more pics from the day.

Her backyard shares a fence with a fella's small ranch/farm. He has an unsocial donkey, a horse with asthma (oh he sounded so sick!) and a miniature horse that came over to visit after the batteries had died on my camera (sigh)

and 2 Texas Longhorns.

Momma cow is "Sarah" and baby boy is "Bevo"...as named by the owner's grandkids.

POP QUIZ!
Who knows where the kids got the name Bevo???

Hint: I spent a goodly portion of my college years yelling "Bevo for Breakfast!!"

So here we are feeding the cow and the baby bull.

I think I also told y'all that Subvet had to CARRY Sugars inside KICKING AND SCREAMING to eat! She wanted to spend the rest of the year out here talking to the cows and horses!!

Mimi's sunflowers were too tall for Sonshine to reach!!

Here is my attempt to get the traditional group picture in front of the garden...sigh, maybe next spring.

Here are the boys snuggling up on the sofa, quite worn out from the outside fun.

The quilt Mimi put over them is one I made for her 50th birthday. The boys loved it because every other intersecting seam has a button or charm sewn on.

After 4 hours at Grandad and Mimi's house we piled in the car to go to Mass....we were on the road approximately 3.5 minutes before all 3 kids were sound asleep!! (so much for Mass.....)

More great pics! Sissy had to climb up in the middle of the boys, of course. Can't be left out, now can we?

45 years ago that could have been me instead of Sugars. I was even chunky like her, and blonde too! I loved any kind of animal, no matter how mean or contrary, and I wasn't afraid of anything. I'd have been over the fence in a heartbeat if Mama turned her head.

yeah well Momma didn't turn her head...and neither did Mimi!!

I loved the photos! I'm kind of partial to photos of family members taking time to enjoy each other! What a pretty place your dad and Mimi have! The pasture and pond and longhorns and gardens, etc.

I can just hear them thinking, "Oh, no, Mom's got the camera out AGAIN!" there in front of the flowers! lol

Love that little photo of Sugars climbing on top of the boys!

So wonderful when the kids play so hard and then konk out the minute they lay down. You can tell it was a great day for them.

At least the ride home was quiet enough to worship without going to mass :0)
Love all the photos.
My son says the box arrived in Washington yesterday. I'm getting there late Sunday so if I'm conscious on Monday I'll let you know about it...

What a lovely day and great photos to remember it by. I love neighbors of the four-legged variety. We have cows and horses next door, too, but nothing as exotic as longhorns. So nice that they can visit grandparents and not-so-wild beasts at the same time!

Our package has arrived, btw! And thank-you so much for all the goodies. The girls are thrilled! Those little purple crocheted slippers fit my eight year old exactly and she has happily adopted them. (She says, "Tell her I love them!") And I'm glad you told us the purpose of the blue knit thingamabob, because Anna was convinced it was a chapel veil with a hole in it! We've already tried making the little ribbon crosses, too. Too cool. I'll post some pics of some of the stuff and what we do with it. &:o)

looks like a great day. thanks for all the pictures.

isn't bevo a mascot for some school down there in texas? i remember hearing about it or seeing it - but i don't remember where. maybe when i made a visit to dallas a few years ago. or some sport on tv. i'm always in awe of those long horns.
