My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

Show and Tell

Show and Tell

Well, I've read on several blogs laments about how much snow some of you good folks are getting. I sure do feel bad for you. So bad that for show and tell tonight I'm going to post pics of what my little flower bed looked like yesterday.

This is an Easter Lily that I bought as a flowering potted plant in 03 and stuck in the ground.....

Here you can see the daffodils and tulips I bought as potted plants 2 years ago as well as the iris that I transplanted from the back yard last summer. They weren't blooming back there as a) they didn't get much sun in the stupid places the previous owner of this house put them and b) my husband kept mowing them down when he would "weed" the beds. Sometime over the next few weeks I'll get out there and clear all that clover that grows wild in my beds.

I'm hoping that my hyacinths will show up here in the next month too!

I love bulbs but have never had any luck buying dry bulbs in bulk. I don't know if I plant them too deep or upside down or what but they never come up. I do much better with the potted plants...as you can see. :-)

Don't forget to play Thesaurus Thursday!

Nothing like a spring garden I thank you for sharing with us.

Your post about work safe sounds like a war zone.....what is happening to our sweet world.

Our bulbs are popping up too. The trouble with that is sometimes they come too early and then a later frost will get them :o(

Ahhhhhh, It's snowing right now
outside. So far for the season
52+ total inches. I am glad not
to live further north where they
get 250+ inches and they have to
hang the stop lights on wire
from the tall power poles.
The snow banks get that high!

My bulbs have been sprouted since December! It never fails that they get frosted or frozen every year with this stupid weather we have here. 70ยบ on day and in the teens the next! I can't blame them for being confused - I am too!

I am many months away from anything green in my garden.... or riding or golfing.....sigh.......

It seems when the snow finally disappears.. there are some little green things waiting to be discovered under the white stuff.

Gardening is not my gift for sure but I do really good mowing a lawn or pulling weeds. I'm ecstatic when a plant survives in my yard...
I need to remember to go back to show and tell later in the day cuz I'm missing some....

I have more luck with container plants on my deck, as they get lots of sunshine and get watered more frequently.

I'm really hoping to enlarge the front flower bed this year, but lost half the crepe myrtle last week in the ice storm. But that happened last year, too, and it came back really well. I lost a tree, too, but not a Bradford pear as we usually do. It was either a redbud or a dogwood--I think. Roots are up in the air, so I need to figure out how to get it chopped up and hauled off.

But I have hyacinths and tulips planted and they will come up first. After that, I have very few summer bloomers.

My Spring bulbs are frozen solid in 6 feet of frost underground right now with 2 feet of snow on top! lol I won't be seeing tulips and such until April or May at least. xox
