My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

show and tell

Well, I promised I would put my Pumpkin Patch Kids up for show and tell this week, so Here They Are!

I finally found solid orange T-shirts at Hobby Lobby and cut out these black felt face pieces

Notice the smiles are different....I have one 0 year old, one 2 year old and one 3 year old...can you tell which face goes on who's shirt?

I put elastic in the bottom of each shirt intending to stuff them with newspaper.

HA!

Gator-boy objected to such awful treatment as having his shirt stuffed! (Good thing he's not a girl huh?) So that part of the plan got tossed in the trashcan...literally ;-)

But wait there's more!

"I can NOT believe it!" (Little Einsteins anyone?)

The thread that I found to match the shirts came from part of my "inheritance" from my Grandmother.

Look closely

These are WOODEN SPOOLS!

The "black" which is really blueish (maybe faded?) says "A Golden T product" and has a printed price of 35 cents for 225 yards of 100% spun polyester.

The orange says Coats & Clark's mercerized sewing with a price of 15 cents for 125 yards.

Now, sewing quiz....(no I didn't know this either!)
What did they do to keep thread from bleeding BEFORE everything was "colorfast"?

Any ideas? I don't think you can read it in the pictures.....I'll give the answer tomorrow with the Thesaurus Thursday answers!

Go on over to Kelli's to see all the other Show and Tells!

On the question, how about a beeswax, or a wax of sorts???

Just my guess...

I love pumpkins and now I know why!!!

What cute shirts! That is neat that you were able to stitch some of your grandmother's thread into your children's shirts. I enjoyed reading your blog. :)

Cute little punkins, and simple and easy costumes.

I know the thread thing, but my brain ain't workin' too good right now. I do remember a lot of my old wooden thread spools say that the thread is boilfast...

LOVE that idea!

BTW - our costumes are from all over. K;s pink dress was from Old Navy bought 2 years ago on Halloween day (so it was only $5). T's is from a thrift store or yard sale. Anytime I see leotards for under $2, I grab them for our dress up bin. You should see our dress up bin...oh my....

D's was from freecycle. If you haven't done freecycle.org then GO check it out!

(sorry for the long comment - I couldn't reply via email to your comment)
