My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

Thesaurus Thursday

I told Subvet that the women wouldn't know the movie. He figures EVERYONE should know that one.....

Diana, everything from "I can eat 50 eggs" to the end of my clip was a takeoff from Paul Newman's movie Cool Hand Luke. That's what made it so funny.

Now, a good friend of mine sent me a prayer request/proud celebration and asked me to share it with you. PenofJen aka Humble Wife aka Ma Kettle aka (well, I've lost track of all her names) anyway, you know who I mean right?? Well her son just enlisted in the ARMY and she's asking for prayers. Bill-the-younger has been sworn in and is now at Ft Bliss, TX presumably starting boot camp. Go over to Jen's post and show her your support. Infantry Dad, Airborne Dad, and Pops....I'm counting on you to welcome her and her husband QuillofBill into your "parent's circle". And let's all add Bill-the-younger to our military prayer lists.

Now, on with our game.

For next week, work on these:
sedan chair

Sedan chair--what the seats in a 1968 Chevy Impala were called

Sedulous--Bronx accent for "said you louse"

Ok. I know this one, because I used to be a princess.
The sedan chair is what royalty (or the aristocracy) ride in through the streets of the city. It's an ornate chair, enclosed in a structure with fancy curtains and cushions and all the princess-y stuff. It rests on poles which rest on the shoulders of slaves or peasants. You can open the curtains and look out at the great unwashed masses if you like, and wave at the children. Or you can just hide in there, holding your nose.

woot woot, i won the silly goose!

sedan chair - not the compact chair, not the SUV chair, not the pickup chair, not the minivan chair, but the sedan chair.

sedulous - the "it" word for fashionable divas.

instead of the boring ole' "you look fabulous!" or "that gown is stunning!" you would say "you look sedulous!" or, "that gown is simply sedulous!"

Apparently what you had there was a failure to communicate! "Cool Hand Luke" was a cool movie but you're probably right in that a lot of women wouldn't get references to it. It's definitely NOT a chick flick!

As for your words this week ... hmmm ...

sedan chair - refers to a chair for giants made entirely of old sedans found at local junkyards and pieced together

Salubrina - Italian, as in "Salubrina the pasta to the dinner"

Of course "Cool Hand Luke" was a chick flick. Remember the scene where he talks to his mother, followed by the news of her death and his singing in the prison break room? How much more of a chick flick would you want?

Sedan Chair What Sonshire says when he sees uncle Dan's chair, Sedan's Chair momma?

Sedulous I had a good one until I read Subvet's comment about Cool Hand Luke being a "chick flick" Even I can't stretch my imagination THAT FAR! I'll get back to you on it.
