My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

Show and Tell

Show and Tell

It's another Finished Project!!

Going to a baby shower at work a couple weeks from now so that meant I needed to make another of my flannel baby blankets. Everyone loves these and they take about an hour to make. Here's what you do. Take 2 lengths of cutsie flannel that are the same size...or 1 big one folded in half and sew around the edges leaving a space to turn. Trim the corners, turn right side out and iron the edges flat. Then pick a fun contrasting color and topstitch around the outside close to the edge....then pick a cute decorative stitch and sew again alittle ways in from the edge. The decorative stitch not only makes it look more "finished" but it will also add "heft" to the edges and that keeps the blanket from sliding off the baby so easily.
Oh and don't you love my little stamp I got last year?? Thanks for the ribbon Steph!

Neato! And you don't tie it or stitch it anywhere across the middle? I guess with no batting to wad up or shift between the layers there's no need to tie it or stitch it though...

I just got a new portable Brother sewing machine. I need to give it a test run and make sure I can figure it out before I get rid of my old machine.

Very neat blanket project!! That is just the type of sewing project I love: simple, quick, cute and useful!! =) Out of curiosity (because I might try to make one of these for my brothers' babies) what are the dimensions of the blanket?

Congrats on the Finished Project. I have so many UFO's I can't die. My child will not know what to do with them all. I have decided to not do any more SAGA Conventions or Workshops after next week and after Judith Adams comes to Birmingham next Feb. Then I am done until I work this pile down. :D
