My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

It's about learning how to dance in the rain."

Thesaurus Thursday

Well, if you know nothing about me, you should know that I break rules.
Don't ask me why, I don't have an answer. So, here I am now breaking my own rules.

When I started this exercise I thought ok, I'll just open the Dictionary and pick a word on whatever page that I turn to, one word a week.

Well, this time I started flipping and searching for a word that maybe y'all won't know. Remember the whole point is not to test current knowledge, rather to increase knowledge. And I decided to pick 2 words...maybe if you do know one you won't know the other.

Remember to make up some silly definition for the comments and I'll give the answer on Sat. Maybe I should do a contest for the silliest definition like PenofJen does for picture captions every Tuesday....??? We'll see.

ramose
blogger spellcheck doesn't know this one!!

rapacious

Also, folks,
My mom had surgery this week and it's been rather stressful. So I've become a lurker at many of your sites. Know that just because you don't see a comment doesn't mean I haven't been by. I try to go to everyone on my blogroll daily, I just don't have much energy for commentary this week.

Boy, I don' know either of those words!!! I guess the Latin my parents made me take to increase my SAT scores didn't help too much!! =)

I hope your mom is making a good recovery from her surgery, too... I can certainly understand why you would not have as much time for blogging. I bet it is very reassuring for her, to have a daughter who's an RN, while she is recovering.

Speaking of being an RN, re: the ADHD topic, yes, I am definitely very interested in your opinion, especially since I am a nursing school dropout who hopes to finish someday. If I was your neighbor, I'd probably be bothering you 10x a day with all my questions!! =) I know the time I did spend in school caused me to question a lot of the things I thought I knew, and if I'd finished and gone to work in the field, I know I would have learned so much more. That's also why I love blogging now, since I'm not in school anymore... learning new ideas from others and broadening my perspective!! =)

ramose was easy! That was Ramesses II and Moses, when they were originally conjoined twins, before Solomon cut 'em in two and gave one to each of the two bickering moms, right?

I think Ramose means sad or being sorry.

I have no idea about rapacious. I'll be silly and say someone who "raps" a lot!!

I have no brain cells to think of an answer but definitely have a contest! It really seems to be fun and gives our blog friends something to look forward to!!

But you must have a remedial blog level...!!!

Rapacious--I think it means cutting, sword-like, as in a rapacious wit.

Ramose--hmmm a cross between a ram and a moose, with something missing?

Could I get the language of origin, and any other pronunciations?

Hope mom is doing well?
