My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

Success and Contentment.

So Adrienne does this thing she calls "Feeling Rich". Periodically she will tell the world about little things that make her feel "rich".

Today I'm spinning that thought off in my own direction. (now, don't be scared...)

I want to discuss things that make me feel successful.

This is one of those AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION POSTS...so get your reflection caps on folks.
(you know as in reflecting on your self and your life... NOT the hats with the little mirrors all over, or the ones made of high shine foil)

I've been down for a couple days. Saturday was the worst of it, but not all...mostly I just got down. Even post-hysterectomy I still have to deal with PMS so we can blame it on hormones :-)

Tonight as I got up and going for work I realized that I feel better today than I have in about a week. I started to wonder what had changed....

Well, for starters I got a good solid 6 hours of sleep. (come on now, everyone oooo and aaahhh here.) But it was more than being tired. I realized I felt better because I felt successful about 'yesterday' (it was yesterday to me, even though you'd say it was this morning...so roll with me here) Yesterday I was able to accomplish a few things that'd been sitting on my Todo List since last week. They're not big accomplishments, but it was bugging me that they were being left undone. I'd found myself so caught up in emotional turmoil that I was unable to focus on the things on my Todo List. So yesterday after work, I was able to sit and order a couple things online that I'd been meaning to order. Only then could I sit with my embroidery enjoying the rain and my online playlist.

I think that, as a rule, we forget the importance of the little successes. Simply being able to mark something off of the Todo List is a success. And every success leads to calm and contentment.

Hopefully, the next time my day falls apart before 10am like it did last Saturday I will remember to focus on finding success and not brood. Or at least I'll start singing this song which never fails to make me smile!

So, what makes you feel successful?

When do you feel content?

clean dishes, a clean living room floor. Having a project to the binding stage and I can just sit and enjoy that part.

Glad you're feeling better. :o)

My list of things that make me feel successful may change every day. I do like to mark things off my to do list, but as a general rule I'm pretty stable emotionally. It takes quite a bit to rock me, but I do get down occasionally.

Having all my laundry done up and a clean apartment are definite uppers, and so is finishing any needlework project.

Hey, I like the new blog template. :o)

I'm content when even though the day was hectic at work I can see that I was able to communicate well with the people I meet during the course of the day.

I'm content when I can share in the lives of my family and they in mine.

Wishing you another contented day!

Cathy

OH! I have entered the recipe. Thanks!

Definitely getting up and getting something accomplished anything accomplished helps fight the blues for me. I love to check things off a list.
Glad things are looking up...

I feel successful when I can go one month without one of my kids calling me with one of their problems.

I feel like a failure when I don't hear from my kids when they have a problem.

Life is crazy that way, eh?

These days, I'm feeling content just to be with the guy I love.

Otherwise, I feel content when I'm working in my sewing room on a project--no matter where in the process I am.

Success is more vague, because then I'd have to figure out what makes me feel like a failure--and I don't feel that way often. Usually it's when I've had a crazy night at work and had to leave stuff for the next shift to finish up.

i feel successful when my house is clean and/or when the laundry is caught up on. or when i've done something that i've been putting off.

sorry to hear you've been a little down. we all go through that. sounds like you've had a lot of rain... that can have an effect on your mood too.

may the sun shine down upon you and warm you and your life.

I have the same problem with having my plans disrupted. My Mom told me even as a little kid if things didn't happen the way I expected, I was NOT nice about it.

For instance: Announcement from Mom, "We're going to the lake tomorrow." Next day it rains. My brother is ok with not going to the lake. Me? Not so much.

I'm glad you reminded me to just settle down and celebrate the small things. For me - nothing is ever enough.

So - after all that whining here's something I do. I look at my To Do's at the end of the day and add all the stuff I did that wasn't on the list and cross it off.

That tends to keep me focused and feeling successful.

...and you need more than 6 hours sleep!!!!
