with facebook I have the opportunity to chat with folks I normally wouldn't chat with. which is nice. And I've run into a couple old pals from high school, which is very nice. I wouldn't mind if more HS folk wandered my way actually.
then we have these games.
I am now stuck in virtual land in two different games. They're both fun time wasters....but there's something about the idea of needing to jump online just so you can go and harvest virtual crops, before they die on the vine that is a bit disturbing. You do this to make virtual money to plant more virtual crops. And it's nice cuz they always grow...never need weeding...and the weather is always perfect. I mean where else can you grow lemons, wheat, eggplants and strawberries all at the same time right next to the cow and the goat who are happily staying put and NOT eating the crops!!
Subvet got Mr Rogers' Neighborhood on DVD for the kids. As we were watching he mentioned how odd it was that the trolley went from the house...to this other city...then those folks went through a hidden door into a magic garden. I told him. It's the Land Of Make Believe!! Anything is possible there!!
So, what do you think? Is facebook the new and improved Land of Make Believe?????

There are all kinds of make-believe worlds for adults on the Internet. Facebook is just one of them. I know a few people who spend a lot of time on Facebook and they're not all kids.
As a fellow addict I can't really say too much without finding myself just as guilty as you.
As far as the Land of Make Believe....even if it is, it's a lot healthier to indulge in some peaceful, wholesome farming than in the porn and other destructive Make Believe sites that some are addicted to!

Hmmm, I have no idea what you're talking about. I have a facebook page (is that what it's called?) and a MySpace page but forget to look at them for weeks at a time. Just never have seen the attraction in them. I find blogs much more interesting.
i said i wasn't going to and i've held off until... NOW!! i just got back from a four day camping trip and i had 6 farmville requests. i caved. i don't know if i'll stay up with it but i had to find out what all the fuss was about. now i know. howdy, neighbor =)
As someone who spends too much time on Farmtown or trying to remember to harvest the crops before they wither on the vine, I think I can agree with this assessment. There's just something mindlessly numbing about the whole process and we all need that from time to time. Escape is a good thing!
It IS the new world of makebelieve and I like it!
I've never been one to play electronic hand held games, or even computer games. But now--oh my oh me, my niece got me started on Farm Town a few months ago and now I arrange my schedule around my crops!! I'm also in Farmville, which is where I've seen your farm! So happy to be your neighbor there!By the way, I dropped by your farm earlier and shooed some crows away!
Myspace was a saving grace when son 3 was in the Army.
We could check in and see that he had been on line, and know he was ok.
Facebook is surely the hell that we end up in for spending to much time on line, and Mafia Wars has become the depths of hell that consumes my time.
I've avoided Farmville, but loving gardening and farming as I do.
I'll probably end up there too....
