My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

suffering

well folks.

I'm suffering from the following ailments:

a bad cold/virus/URI

quilter's obsession ~~must.finish.this.quilt.~~

writer's block

Since I called in sick to work tonight and can't think of a single thing to write about I decided I'd write about not being able to think of anything to write about.

how's that strike you??

Did you know that quilts grow??
It's true!

I've never machine quilted, I always quilt by hand...and I can tell you that somehow the dang thing gets bigger the more time you spend quilting on it!

Now, I've said before that for every project there comes a point in time where it is just tedious. And only tenacity and holding to your vision of the finished thing will keep you going. For me that happens during the making of a quilt top. This is different from what is going on right now with this quilt.

well, the same only different....if you follow me.

I love to hand quilt. It is relaxing and fun and far from tedious work. However, I quilt on a thing for HOURS ~~literally~~ and then spread it out to see that I haven't hardly made a dent in the thing. Section it off and work on a single section...figuring to be done with this or that part in a day or so...again quilt for HOURS and spread it out to see that the quilt is now twice it's original size and will take a year to finish!

I don't know how it happens..but the things grow when you're not looking.
Makes me kinda afraid to put it down for very long....

the parts without safety pins are done.

sigh, back to work!

That's a beautiful quilt! I wish I had quilters obsession---Meg's quilt is waiting for a back and then to be quilted, which I've never actually done before.

Beautiful quilt! All projects seem to have the "oh my, am I ever going to finish this?" part. Good luck.

Very nice work. I'm afraid I don't have the patience for this kind of hand work :0)

Lookin' good! And I only do hand quilting too. Have absolutely no desire to machine quilt. I can buy a store bought quilt is the way I see it. The hand sewing is what makes it special.

I'm thinking about making up a meme just out of boredom and to have some blog fodder. I'll let you know if I do it.

Oh, yeah, been there, done that!

And it's so hard to machine quilt large tops, that I have 6 of them waiting to be sandwiched and then quilted--somehow.

How are you able to stand that blanket across your lap in a Texas summer? I could understand if it was January....
