My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

It's about learning how to dance in the rain."

Thesaurus Thursday, Answers, Winners, and Words

Just in case this is your first time by here on a Thesaurus Thursday, the "rules" of Thesaurus Thursday are as follows:

First and foremost, leave as many funny definitions for either word (or both) as you can think up in the comments!! The ones that make me laugh the hardest will be given the Silly Goose Award.

Last week's Silly Goose Winners are:

Jungle Mom said...
kaffeeklatsch, pronounced,'coffee clutch', Which is what you do each morning when gripping your first mug of coffee.

(can be seen each morning in Subvet's kitchen!)

Linda said..
kaon - Second cousin to Khan, a Romulan warrior who battled Captain Kirk in several Star Trek episodes!

Next, if you know (or think you know) the true definitions without looking them up then be sure and leave those in the comments too!! All definitions that are correct (or close enough for government work and Mighty Mom) will win the Smarty Pants Award!

Diane J knew kaffeeklatsch!

Official Definitions:
kaon - a meson with strangeness +1 and either positive or zero electric charge, or its antiparticle with strangeness -1 and either negative or zero electric charge. Symbol: K Also called K meson

Should anyone want to define that definition for me I'd sure appreciate it! :-)

kaffeeklatsch - a social gathering for informal conversation at which coffee is served.

In other words, any gathering at held at my house!

Now, our words for next week are.....
salmagundi

sain

Have fun now ya hear!!

salmagundi- Salmonella is the commoner disease...Salmagundi is for the John F Kerry, Hollowood crowd...they never get the same illnesses that we po'folk get.

sain-wow, another elite word. Sane is a mockery cast upon us common folk. When one states that a person is 'sane' what is really occurring is a slap and a wink. Only the elite uppercrust can even be considered sain.

No Bill definitions today...he is feeling as though he is struggling with salmonella and is feeling not so sane.

Salmagundi - in Alaska, this is the head salmon, or faith leader, who leads the salmon up the rivers to their deaths...promising them 72 virgins at the end of their swim..... :)

Sain - a two syllable word (say in); when a person blocks the entrance to some important government office by standing in the doorway and talking non-stop. The verbal version of the old-fashioned sit in..... :)

Hello, Mighty Mom...thanks for stopping by my blog...I will email you Seth's info. Blessings on your wonderful family..... :)

salmagundi- kbug is right on this one. This revered fish also is famous for his spiritual writings on swimming against the current and spawning. He is, of course, a King Salmon.
He is a cousin of the well-known Mao tse Tsalmon whose famous philosophical writings are titled, "The Little Red Hook".

sain- A French word, pronounced to rhyme with 'fine'. It's what you are handed by a French redneck when you achieve a level of stupidity deserving of an award.
Usage: 'Mon cher! Here's your sain.'
Ugh! (Stretching for these)

Congratulations on winning the Arte Y Pico on Pinky's blog!

These just get funnier and funnier!

Pinky had a hard time finding my blog because I changed the URL, so wanted to let you know in case you couldn't find it either. The name is the same but the URL is now scrapsbystephanie.blogspot.com.

Oh, and congrats on your award from Pinky! I'm just sorry she got to you before I did!

salamgundi, A world famous magician.

sain, the preferred position for TV viewing, half sitting, half laying..sain!

Kellie said...

Oh how FUN! I'll give it a try...

Salmagundi...a mild expletive used to convey frustration. For example..."Salmagundi!! I've sat on my brand new sunglasses!"

Sain...This is a rare geological/meterological occurance where water actually comes up from the from the soil in droplets. Rain in reverse, you might say.

Found you on Pinky's blog, by the way!

Yay! lots of participation this week. I love it. I almost went with Kellie's "salmagundi' definition.

Cookie and I must think alike as the very first thing I thought of was the author of Satanic verses when I saw "salmagundi"!

Now, as for "sain" - it's what happens to a person when there is too much rain in the area and you just can't take it anymore. You go sain sitting in the house the whole time!

Salmagundi is a food dish, a stew of sorts I think.

Sain - hmmm, not sure about this one, so I'll try for funny.

Sain - Gaelic term for a psychiatric treatment center. Therefore, if you've been committed, you're considered in sain.

Lame, I know, but I'm not at my sharpest right now.
